Let's begin with the tearing out of the old tile...I don't know if I can put into words how I felt when that tile was gone. Relief, giddy, overjoyed. I would have almost rather lived with sub -floor than that tile. That's how much I hated it. Worn out, yucky stuff. When he started taking that up, it was like I was having a spa exfoliation, I felt rejuvenated, relieved. Sounds crazy, I know, but I've waited 8 yrs. for this. So, it's small in the grand scheme of life, but in my little world it's pretty darn big
.
From there it was basically a runaway train. The tile went up on Thurs. afternoon, and by today (Fri.) afternoon my kitchen was gutted completely and new tile laid. Oh, and my little built in pantry put in where my frig was. ( I love it! ) This next week we will paint, the carpet will be laid, the furniture moved around and hopefully by next weekend we'll be watching movies in our new family room!
Now, the kitchen is another story. The cabinet man is a great guy and all, but he's not moving too fast. Pray, pray, pray. It's looking like I could have to wait 3-4 weeks until the kitchen has counters and cabinets. If I can handle having only one drawer for 8 years, I can wait a few weeks, right? Clay is hooking my sink back up, somehow rigga-ma-jigging it to the wall so I have water in the kitchen. That's a good thing. (a la Martha)
In other news: I took Hannah and her friend Maggie to the mall tonight to spend some of their birthday giftcards and cash. It was more fun and relaxing than I had expected. I just tagged along, following at a distance behind and let them feel independent. How fun it is to be 12 yrs. old, have money to blow on stuff at Claire's, be silly, laugh with your best friend.
Looking forward to Jonathan's ball game tomorrow, doing some scrapbook shopping (thanks, Aunt Patty) at Archiver's with Patti, staining my armoire black (little freaked out about that, but going to go for it!)
Wondering if we'll get the snow they are expecting. I love snow. Ice, not so much, but snow is beautiful and fun for the kiddos.
Have a great weekend, all y'all :)

How exciting Tammy. It all looks wonderful. You are going to be in heaven! Regarding the armoire. You can do it!
I love the new kitchen floor. The new family room all lit is already inviting, even unfinished. It is all taking shape, so 3-4 weeks with no cabinets won't be so bad, just focus on all the magnificent improvements. Wow! It is looking beautiful. Sage will be one of the most thrilled when this is over, cause I'm sure she doesn't know what you, humans are doing.
Glad to hear that Hannah is learning to be an enthusiastic shopper--important in the "girl world."
Hope you have a fun day, watching Jonathan's game, scrapbooking, etc. Enjoy, relax, and remember, you are loved. Love, Mom
