A collage of Katie's first Upward Basketball game. She chose basketball over cheerleading this year, which was a little bit of a surprise. So far she really likes it. I missed Jonathan's game which was earlier in the day on Saturday...so I'll have to take pictures this next week of him. Watching these kindergarteners play ball is soooo fun. She's super into defense. And... made a basket her first game (in the wrong basket, but still....)

While at Kate's practice this week, I started a book that I hadn't read since high school but loved.... Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (I don't know how to do the 2 little dots over the "e", sorry)
It is really so wonderful. Dark and Romantic, and wonderful. Full of lots of feelings that we try not to feel. It's interesting to read it again at a completely different time in my life, with a whole different perspective. I don't remember a lot about what we did in studying it, but what I do remember is Mrs. Church invited our AP English Class to her house to watch the classic movie. She was one of my very favorite teachers ever -- and passed away years ago in a tragic accident. Wuthering Heights (along with many other classics) is, in a way, connected with her in my heart.

Last Sunday night I was so excited to stumble onto PBS -- and find they had remade Wuthering Heights for Masterpiece Theater. It was part one of 2, so if you want you can jump into it in the middle this week...or wait until it comes out on DVD. So far it is really good. Heathcliff has just come back, all dark and brooding. Katherine is torn because she does still want to be with him.
Now, it's not Jane Austen, but it'll do:) --
{ a little Austen trivia: did you know that the Bronte girls, Charolette and Emily, did not like Jane's writing at all. They thought it was horrible!}

I still have a few pictures from Hannah's ice skating I want to get up on here...so hopefully sometime this week.
Super excited to have a vistor for a bit of the weekend -- and nothing on the calendar except b-ball!! Ahhhhh...it's nice.

Kate is adorable as a b-ball player! Who would have thought it? She is very versatile and willing to try all kinds of activities, which is great. I love the collage of pictures, and wish I could have been there to watch her play.
I do remember reading and enjoying Wuthering Heights. Glad you are re-visiting it. I love having a good book going especially in the winter months. Glad you have pleasant memories of your teacher. We all touch people's lives so much more than we realize. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to the ice skating post. Love Always, Mom

Loved the pics of Katie Rose - our newest basketball player! Can't wait to watch her play a real game and to see another of Jon Carter's games. He is so in to it, too, and so fun to watch. Miss all of you. Aunt Linda

They thought Jane didn't know anything of "love." Perhaps they resented her sense and self-control.
