In an effort to get myself to get on here and blog a little more, I thought I'd put in some regular postings into the week -- thus the Thursday 13, a little something I saw on some other blogs and am borrowing, or stealing, or using, however you want to think about it.
Don't expect too much from the Thursday 13, just a random list of 13 things you may or may not be interested in. I'll throw in a photo somewhere, for proper blog etiquette.
Ready?
Here we go:
1. We are finishing up school supply shopping today. Hopefully. I've done it bits and pieces so I'll be glad to mark these last things off the list.
2. Next project : labeling. Lots of labeling.
3. Headaches have been getting the best of me lately. I am completely annoyed and irritated by the pain.
4. Hannah informed me that I use the word "annoyed" all the time. She said, "lots of things annoy you". Very observant, dear.

5. I am obessessed with the Olympics. If it's on, which is almost always, I want it on, cause I don't want to miss something big. Now we all know that if something big happens they will play it over and over or I can watch it on you tube, etc. But still, I love, love, love the Olympics. I am USA all the way, but when one of those countries that has *never* won in certain sports wins a medal I am soooo happy!
6. We've been enjoying tomatoes from the garden. Real tomatoes. Not those colorless, grainy things they sell in the grocery store all year. Ones with big flavor, lots of juice, perfect with a little salt and pepper. Seriously, I could live on them.
7. Thirteen things is a lot of random to fill.
8. Kate was listening to a Magic Tree House story CD about Hawaii and learning about earthquakes and how they cause "Salami's" in the ocean. :) I assured her that we'd never have a "Salami" here.
9. My boy is getting ready to turn the big 1-0. double digits. We are trying to come up with something special to celebrate.
10. John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston supposedly broke up. Maybe you hadn't heard, but it's big news in my little world.
11. I am finding myself looking forward to fall. Summer is wonderful, don't get me wrong. But it seems like this time every year, I am thinking about fall clothes, purses, shoes. Looking forward to hot comfort food that is just too heavy for the hot weather, sweatshirts and comfy pants, crisp cool air, apple picking, pumpkin-spice candles, all that stuff. Probably a classic case of wanting what you don't have... it'll be here soon enough.
12. Beach Volleyball Rocks!! Walsh + Mays = GOLD!! They are absolutely awesome ---
I've always loved volleyball (court and sand) , thanks to my Aunt Patty, and go waayyy back to Karch Kari. In my dreams, I am on the pro-circuit, playing in the sand with Kerri and Misty. Also in my dreams, I look like them in a bikini.
13. If you made it through my rambling, I hereby declare you a "dedicated reader" of this sometimes boring and lazy blog. Hoping to up the posts here soon. Glad to be getting into a routine again, as crazy as it can be with us all going in 3 different directions, literally. That's something that Matt and I are seriously looking into. How can we stop the madness?? Maybe a move in the future for our family. Right now it seems like it would be a good decision, but waiting to see what God has in store for us.
Sending out big love to all of you --- thanks for checking in!

So good to check in and find a new posting on your blog. Love your rambling, and I know what you mean about the Olympics---The bring our our patriotism, and I remember not very many days ago when it was you on that volleyball court. I hope I can get up to watch Aunt Patty's team some time this year. Got to get these events penciled in on the calendar.
Yes, our boy will be oh, so big once he hits the double digits! He is becoming such a neat young man!
Are sure there is no "Salami" in St.Louis??? He he he!
Love you lots!
Mom
This is God speaking to you -- your future may involve a town that begins with a B... go Liberators! (just kidding -- you HAD to know that was coming!)
We would absolutely love (and would go absolutely bonkers if you moved back!!!!) to have you all here. But we want what God wants for you even above our own desires.
Love, Jeff and Jacki
I am a dedicated reader and I love this concept of short, rambling thoughts. It's fun to read all of them. But sorry, Jackie, moving to a town that begins with B can't be in God's plan, for I think His plan is moving the Heckel family to a town that begins with a C. At least that is my dream of what God wants for this family. Does that work? Aunt Linda
