Guess what starts tonight????
Masterpiece Theater on PBS: Jane Austen's Persuasion. This is first in a series of adaptions of her novels that will play each Sunday night....so check your local listings. I'm so super excited!!! PBS always seems to do a good job, so I'm crossing my fingers that they don't disappoint. When it comes to Pride and Prejudice it's gonna be hard to compare to the BBC Miniseries...(have you watched any yet, A.??)
Also: I did take pictures of the slumber party but at the moment my card reader is hiding and so I can't load them up, but will just as soon as I can. They had a really fun time. Hannah's in recovery-mode. When I got her up for church this morning, she just opened her eyes and looked at me like "you've got to be kidding". Ah, the post-slumber-party-hangover.
I had a "moment" while shopping with my boy for new basketball shoes this week. We tried on several pair, none of which were really fitting quite right. Just not quite big enough or something. I thought I'd check on what size the men's started and what'a'ya know, my 9 yr. old boy is now wearing men's shoes. Yep, big feet. But the bigger story is that I was nearly in tears at how he's growing (both literally and figuratively) so fast. Then, I just couldn't cry, when he is **BEAMING** with pride at his men's basketball shoes. My heart melted at his sweet ,"Thanks, Mom" as we walked to the van. He giggled and put his arm around me when I told him that I was sad, that I use to buy him Thomas the Tank Engine stuff and now he's got big man feet. They are pretty cool shoes, and I'm sure they will make him run faster, and jump higher and make more baskets, just like all new shoes do. :)
I'm feeling better. I wandered around several stores aimlessly yesterday. Bought Zero. But it was nice to look around. And then made a couple of little projects in the evening. I love doing ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) even though I don't have anyone to trade with. Small, free-flowing little works of art. And then started a mini-book. Katie sat by me, scrapbooking her own mini-album, making fun comments like, "Mom, we are both scrapbookers, aren't we?" I honestly feel like a backpack filled with lead has been lifted off of me. Such a release. So much fun to make stuff. Why haven't I been doing this for the past 3 months???
So, anywhoo, I'll be back soon with pictures to share. The one of Katie above is an out-take from our Christmas shoot. I've got a million of them, so be prepared.
PS -- lookie to the left to see my hubby's new blog. A teeny bit (alright, a ton) of deep thought and lots of theology...basically the opposite of mine, but I guess that's why it works... thought you might like to check it out. Leave him a comment. It makes him happy! and hey, how about some comment-love for this blog too?? I know you all are out there.........

thanks for the reminder about the PBS series-I've got the tivo tivo'g! glad you got some time to decompress. i am a firm believer in artistic therapy so do something creativer everyday-even if it's just a walk around your yard or looking through a magazine in a quiet spot. :)
I got Matt's e-mail about his new blog and forwarded it to Steve. He told me that you had a blog and to take a look. I can't believe Hannah is 13!! It's just not possible! I have a blog as well. It'll give you some insight into what we Morris's have been up to for the past 4 years or so. You can find it at karensconversations.blogspot.com.

I thoroughly understand the feeling of creative destressing--I love it when I have been painting for 2-3 hours and completely absorbed in the canvas. It does rejuvenate you and somehow helps clear your head of all the other things going on in daily life.
So our boy is wearing big men's shoes--I know he will be making lots of baskets and smart plays at those ballgames, and he already is ahead of his class in mature thoughts--such a sweetheart! Glad you made it through the tearful moment and got to share the growing experience with him and us.
I am anxiously waiting for those "Asian" celebration pictures of our teenager! I did checkout Matt's blog, and it is very interesting to compare the workings of the male and female minds. Somehow, I cannot relate so easily to all the philosophy, but know it is so him, and that makes me smile. But your thoughts are almost as though I had written them myself. It's that Venus & Mars precept. God made us such a diverse and beautiful creation.
I missed the PBS show, but maybe next week. It does sound like my kind of TV. I'll be checking back soon, so keep those posts coming. Love, Mom
I loved the info. about Jonathan wearing men's size shoes now! What a sweet boy you have! I can't wait to hear about all the basketball stats from his games. Love you all! Jacki
