despite the rumors

I am still alive. Alive and well and a teeny bit crazy. To say that the last couple of weeks have been busy is an understatement and when I would think I might blog a little, I'd just poop out and not do it. I have a major post due about my and Patti's trip to Silver Bella which was fast and fabulous. And I *promise* to do that really really soon. I want to get to show you some of the pretties we made and fun that we had. So -- check for that in the next day or two.

Otherwise, I guess I'll update a little on what's up:

*School is plugging along for all the kids. I think that Hannah is ready for a break though, because tonight she couldn't understand why you wouldn't get the MONDAY after Thanksgiving off and went off to her calendar to count how many days until Christmas break.

*Kate went on her first school field trip -- a play at the community theater. She loved it. And then the next day went to a birthday party for one of her best buddies, Dominic. Being 4 is hard work...such a busy calendar to keep up with, ya know.

*Jonathan is knee deep into football season. High school, college, NFL...it really doesn't matter. What is so funny is today he had somehow convinced Kate to not complain about it being on and instead watch the game with him. He told her which team to cheer for -- the opposite of his-- and she really got into it, even though she couldn't remember her teams name or anything. Complete with dancing and cheering, they had quite a big time. I wish you could have heard him trying to teach her about the plays and who was who. She'd say, "Bubby, your team has a plan!" as they got in a huddle. So cute. Oh, and by the way, he's also been teaching her about why dogs like to sniff each other. That's my boy.

I have found myself over-committed and under stress as the holidays come steam rolling towards us. Not sure what I'm going to do about it quite yet. I just know that I can't keep up with my van anymore. What I do know is that I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and spending time with my family. We are heading to my Aunt and Uncle's house for Thanksgiving day and then down to see Matt's side of the family over the weekend. I have a family photoshoot scheduled there, too. I'm excited to do this, my first *family* shoot. I've been collecting ideas and am hoping for pretty weather so we can be outside for some beautiful fall light.

Am I completely boring you? Really just babbling on, but wanted to pop in to let you know that it's not you, it's me.

I'll say goodbye with a pretty picture -- the sunset on the way to Omaha. Spectacular.

What a great post!!! Love the fact Jon Carter can steer Katie to what he wants, instead of what she wants. She usually is so firm in what she wants, etc. And come join the club. . . the stressed out club, that is. What mother isn't stressed this time of year? Loved the pic of the sunset - how beautiful!!! Can't wait to see you and the whole family - only two more days. Be safe driving. Love Aunt Linda

I'm so glad to hear you're still alive! So very glad! I'd to hear more about the Silver Bella thing. It sounds so glamorous! I bet you had a great time. Tell everyone "hi" from all of us. I am so thankful for you, Tammy. Love and miss you, Jacki

What a great post---love the story of Jonathan and Kate. He is so smart, knows how to win his sister to his way, wisdom beyond his years!
The picture of the sunset is beautiful! The funny thing is I have a very similar photo, as I took a shot of that sunset as we went to pick up photos from the Fall Photo Show in Centralia--Like Mother, like Daughter! I love it!
So great to be with you on Thanksgiving. We are so blessed. Praise the Lord. Love, Mom
