<<<-- Mrs. Harris and Kate. She has been through this with me 3 times now. Thankful that she's there with my Katie. I won't even get jealous when Kate likes her more than me:)
The report from the day was that it was great. No rest time because it was a half day. Recess, putting stuff away, chapel. Jonathan was excited about 4th grade. He has a couple of new boys in his class and was excited to see his old buddies. Even had a little basketball injury at recess, so for him it was a super day.
I thought I'd include this classic for you tonight.
All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.

Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.
Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm.
Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.
And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

Look at those 2! They are just growing up too much. And are those some cute little navy shoes you found for Kate? Very sweet. I think I would probably like the whole uniform thing. Less to think about/plan each day. Anyway, wow! Where has the time gone? You are definitely super mom making it through your baby going to kindergarten. I'll need pointers next year for sure. Love you all and miss you, Jacki
I LOVE the pics!!! They look so big and tall. I love Kate's "handy" backpack with the zillion pockets (that was Kate's description to me). The boy looks so handsome and old...love the new glasses. I know they will have a great year and lots of success!!! Love you all!

Oh, I feel a few tears welling up in my eyes, as I see that sweet little girl and boy growing up tooo fast! The picture with the backpack is truly a classic! It makes you see how little Kate is, yet what a trooper. She looks right at home at the desk. It does add some comfort to know she will be with Mrs. Harris, and she will remember Mrs. Harris, always. I know I still remember each of my teachers.
Jonathan looks sharp in his glasses, and I know he is a protective big brother. They are adorable in the pictures together, all ready to start a new year.
Glad you did not shed too many tears, because you should be rewarded rather than sad. You have invested your whole self into your family, and it shows. The Lord has blessed you so much. Keep up the posts, it helps bridge the gap between us when we can't be together.
Sending our love to each of you.

I cannot believe how grown up Kate looks. I'm shocked and happy all at the same time. I can't imagine what you are feeling with all three now in school. Tammy - you are a wonderful fantastic mom and friend. Thank you for being a part of my life.
Love - Leigh Ann
