It's going to be a fun season. I love my little squad. And Jonathan is jazzed about playing again.
Kate hung in there with the girls on our squad -- they are all in 3rd/4th grade. She doesn't care a bit...besides, it's all about the outfit and poms anyway, right???
I'm super tired and have had a lot going on the past few days. My dad had a heart attack on Sunday, but is very blessed that he has been given another chance. They were able to put a stint in and with some rest, and lifestyle changes he should be just fine. It may take me longer to recover than him, actually. I think I'm in a post-stress daze. Trying to process almost losing a parent, plus the dealing with our *relationship* and just plain old emotion... I am truly so thankful for the opportunity to talk with him in that serious setting. To say that he is a man of few words is an understatement but we had several good talks. I know that God gave me that chance to have no regrets. And while it's hard to deal with all that means, it's still good, ya know??
Mom and Leon were going to see The Bucket List the other day and I told her to listen for John Mayer's song "Say" in it. I've said before that Matt and I have discussions about my theory that John is the greatest song writer ever. Well, this song fits this time in my life completely. Here's the lyrics:
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so-called problems
Better put them in quotations
Say what you need to say
Walking like a one-man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you'd be better off instead
if you could only
Say what you need to say
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You better know that in the end
it's better to say too much
Then never to say what you need to say again..
.Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say...
Also: a good, actually great, report on Grandpa Phil. He's going to be going home to Grandma Ruth pretty soon. He's walking so well that the nurse wanted him to slow down. The dr. said he'll make a 100% recovery. Thank you for all your prayers.
So despite the drama and exhaustion, life is good.

I'm so glad all is okay with Grandpa and your dad. I'm proud of you for going and seeing him -- with the result being "no regrets." You did good. Love the pictures of the kids at Upward BB. They sure are growing up --- aaaaahhhhh! Love you all, Jacki
Kate is adorable as always, but love, love, love the photo of Jon Carter (the black & white one, of course)! Glad you made it back safe and sound and your outlook on everything. Now, get some rest!
So much to give thanks for---God's healing of our bodies and spirits--such sweet and precious children, and now time to relax and reflect on how the Lord works everything out. I love the pictures. Thank you, Hannah, for picking up the "photo-bug" and taking such cute pictures, so we could share the experience. I love you, Tammy Lynn. Mom
