Bright Spot

Contrary to 'popular' belief...this is NOT breakfast. It in fact says on the box - snacks-. Healthy, good-for-you-food is required first in the morning around here, girly.

Also thought I'd share about Jon Carter and his new "love" of reading. He is a great reader and it's not that he didn't like reading before, he had a couple of spurts with Geronimo Stilton books where he read like crazy. But in general, he just wasn't finding books that he really liked to read. He loves his Sports Illustrated Kids, but that's not like reading a story, getting into a book. Matt has always read to the kids at night. Big books. Fantasy, classics. It's one of my favorite things he does as a dad. They've read all the Narnia series, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, The Odessey, stuff like that. They started the book "Eragon" a while back. When Matt didn't read on certain nights, Jonathan took the book and read on his own. Then it became a joke, (and competition because they are boys) of who was ahead of who, with Jon Carter always in the lead. He finished Eragon, all 500 pages. Since then he's been wanting the next book in the series. Well, to brighten up a rather dreary week at our house, and since is Hannah is gone on a school trip, we surpised him with "Eldest" today. It was so cool to see him so excited. Over a book. Excited to read it. All 688 pages. (I'd be intimidated) I hope this is the beginning of a life long love affair with reading for him. A good balance to his love of sports and being outside. Wanted to share these pics with you...

I'm still under the migraine umbrella, but holding out hope that tomorrow is a new day. It is, right? They're really beginning to blur together. We have Jonathan's last basketball game. Sad. I love watching him play. But right after the ball game, we have baseball sign ups so my lull will not be for long.

I'm enjoying a Chai Latte my sweetie picked up for me at Bread Co. getting ready for a Fri. night at home. Jonathan is taking my place at Matt's school fundraiser/dinner. I told him to enjoy every bite of that fancy dinner, because it was suppose to be *my* fancy dinner. And not to raise his hand to buy anything during the auction. (It gets pretty pricey.) That might be hard for him, one of the items is an autographed Edmonds jersey + Cards tickets. Uh-oh.

Great pictures of Jonathan--we are so proud of him! Keep him reading, it is a wonderful pastime, and key to many parts of life.
Now, what is this about fruit snacks not being a "healthy breakfast"? I think I understand Katie's thinking, sounds 'yummy', must be good for you???
I keep thinking of our caver, with the wind blowing the snow around our house---hope she is warm.
I pray this Saturday has found you headache-less and having a great weekend.
Love, Mom
